Autumn Surf

One does not necessarily think of Mallorca when thinking of Surfing in Spain. Tarifa tends to come to one’s mind and the west coast of Andalucía, or the Canary Islands, or even Menorca. Yet, a good surf can be found on some Mallorcan shores, just the same. It all depends on the wind, really. Try the Badia de Alcúdia, for example, and Son Serra de Marina, in particular. There, you’ll find a left hand beach break, breaking over rock. The ride has a length of 50 to 100 m. The surf is good for beginners. You could also try Sa Rapita, or Platja de Torà, near Peguera, or Cala Mesquida, north of Cala Ratjada.

If you want to know how the wind blows in the next few days, you could have a look here.

The photo was taken in Son Serra, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: September 16th, 2008. The time was 15:07:13.

Hi, would it be possible to use this picture (or any others you may have) in a presentation on Nov 6, 2009 on ocean safety in Mallorca? I’m not exactly sure if that is the correct location. I am coming from Hawaii to talk about our lifeguards. Please let me know if that is possible. Aloha from Hawaii :)
